Speed up Firefox
If Firefox is slow, try following:
- Refresh Firefox
- Install Add-Ons
- disable Javascript (not recommended)
1. Refresh your Firefox
If you refresh Firefox, the history, tabs, bookmarks, passwords, formuladata & cookies will be kept.
Enter about:support in the address pane and click on Refresh Firefox (Firefox restaurieren).
2a. Install Add-Ons
- Enter about:addons in the address pane.
- Enter Ublock in the search field (right edge above).
- Click on Install, to install the UBlock Add-on.
Enter adblock edge in the search field (right edge above).Click on Install, to install the Adblock Edge Add-onEnter Flashblock in the search field (right edge above).Click on Install, to install Flashblock 1.5.18.- You may have to restart Firefox, to activate the add-ons.
2b. Configure Add-ons to load by click
Normally the installed add-ons will be active when you start Firefox. In case of Flash or Shockwave you should change this configuration to ask to activate.
3. Disable Javascript
If you have done the above steps, and Firefox doesn't speed up, so should check, if Firefox performs better, when you disable Javascript. To do so, follow these steps:
- Notice the time to load the webpage
- Enter about:config in the address pane.
- Search for javascript.enabled and toggle it to False
- Quit Firefox and start Firefox again
Hint: A lot of webpages doesn't function properly, when javascript is disabled.
When Firefox performs better when Javascript is disabled, so you should install the Add-On NoScript. But, especially at the beginning, you have to allow javscript for every (wanted) webpage.
